Fueling & recovery support
You are not on your own with this.
Fueling enough is one of the hardest parts of training. If food, eating, or your relationship with fueling feels stressful, confusing, or out of your control, that is worth taking seriously, and you can talk to someone about it. The resources below are free and confidential. You do not need a diagnosis to reach out.
Talk to someone now
- 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Call or text 988, any time, any day. Free and confidential.
- Crisis Text Line. Text HOME to 741741 to reach a trained crisis counselor by text.
Support for eating and fueling
These organizations help with disordered eating, under-fueling, and a difficult relationship with food. Their staff and volunteers can listen, answer questions, and point you to care near you.
- National Alliance for Eating Disorders Helpline. A clinician-staffed helpline. Call 1-866-662-1235 on weekdays, or visit allianceforeatingdisorders.com.
- ANAD (National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders). Free helpline and peer support. Call 1-888-375-7767, or visit anad.org.
- National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). Free screening tool and a directory of resources at nationaleatingdisorders.org.
Talk to a professional who knows athletes
A doctor, a registered dietitian, or a sports-medicine clinician can help you understand whether you are fueling enough for your training and your health. A registered dietitian who works with athletes is a good place to start. Your existing doctor can also refer you.
- Ask your primary-care doctor about fueling, energy availability, and any changes in your cycle, sleep, mood, or recovery.
- Look for a registered dietitian (RD or RDN), ideally one who works with athletes. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has a "Find a Nutrition Expert" directory at eatright.org.
A note on what Idunia is
Idunia helps you track nutrition and training. It is a wellness app, not a medical device, and it does not diagnose any condition. Its fueling check-ins are meant to nudge you toward eating enough, never to judge a number or a body. If anything in the app makes fueling feel more stressful rather than less, the resources above are here for you, and the check-ins can be turned to their gentlest setting in Settings.
